Music is About Listening
For 41 years the Bay Atlantic Symphony has been an integral part of the arts community in southern New Jersey; from Bridgeton to Atlantic City and all communities in between. Our musicians mentor students in Atlantic City and Vineland schools, and annually perform education concerts at our Vineland and Galloway Township venues for local students. However, we know we must do more to be part of a fair and equitable community.
Classical music is also about movements. We must use our performances to promote a movement of inclusivity and openness for people of color, ethnicities and orientation. We pledge to consistently seek out and present diverse composers and artists; to reach and engage more members of our community; to present programs that speak to everyone and are open and accessible to all, and to have an organization that is representative of the communities we serve. We intend to continue to listen while lifting up our collective voice, and our music, to create a more just and equitable society.
