Together, Live, and With You
Bay Atlantic Symphony’s 2021 — 2022 season welcomes back live audiences to our two beautiful concert venues. Our world-class professional musicians are excited to present live orchestral music once again. Music Director Jed Gaylin’s wonderful selections and varied concert programs are sure to delight both accomplished and novice listeners and continue the tradition of bringing great music to Southern New Jersey.
Due to the sudden unavailability of our previous program soloist, we are presenting a new, but still inspiring program at this concert. Both Serenades (Elgar and Tchaikovsky) are staples of the repertoire because of their lyricism and, especially in the Tchaikovsky selections, their incredible motion and playfulness. African American composer William Grant Still’s Panamanian Dances pulls from traditions that span a much larger swath of Latin America than the title suggests. You will find the serenading works have their dancing moments—after all the most famous movement of the Tchaikovsky piece is the Waltz!––and the Panamanian Dances never stop singing! These pieces are all incredible works for the string repertoire and the orchestra and we are passionate about them!
